Group Fitness Class Descriptions

20/20/20
A little bit of everything! An hour long class combining cardio work, heavy weights and either plyometric training or stretching, depending on class needs.

Aquafit
This is NOT your grandma’s aqua aerobics class! An hour of non-stop activity in and around the rooftop pool at FIT. The class will include PT on the pool deck as well as in the pool. You will be sore in places you didn’t even know could be sore. The upper body will be tested with an assortment of push-ups and shoulder exercises in and out of the pool. The water will add resistance to make the lower body workout intense, while minimizing pounding on the knees and joints. Relays, races, and some exercises will require and build teamwork.Bring goggles if you have them!

Belly Buster
Washboard abs are on the way! A quick 15 minutes of power packed abdominal exercises followed with additional low back exercises. This class is open to everyone.

Butts & Guts
A sculpting blowout below the belt! No explanation necessary. The most challenging part of this class will be getting out of bed the next day!

Capoeira
A Brazilian blow out! An ancient art of Afro-Brazilian dance fighting that uses the rhythms of Brazilian drums to coordinate fluid and flexible movements in pairs. This class increases flexibility and core strength through gymnastic type movements. One of our newest and most fun classes additions to our Fit classes!

Cardio Cut
Pump up the reps! Upbeat sculpting focusing on high reps combining heart pumping cardio work on the step using 5 to 10 pound weights. Build strength and endurance while you burn a lot of calories!

Cardio Kickboxing
High-powered kickboxing drills! A fast-paced, high energy cardio workout using the fighting punches and kicks from kickboxing to challenge your stamina with high intensity rounds of combinations.

Chiseled
Strengthening and toning from top to bottom! A well rounded workout using free weights, bands, tubing, etc. for strengthening all major muscle groups; designed to define, shape and tone your body.

Compound Burn
Burn baby burn! A non-stop muscle conditioning class using all compound exercises. This class will keep you guessing where to feel the burn because multiple muscle groups will be working at the same time. A head to toe sculpting workout with cardio built in.

SLANT I.T.
It’s tough!Slant Interval training is a challenging cardio/strength workout on an incline.  This total body workout will leave you fatigued and dripping with sweat. Climb your way to higher level of fitness

Wednesday Warriors
Total Body Conditioning – Outside! Join us in Petco Park for a super challenging group workout that will push you to your limits in only 45 minutes

 

Cycling Class Descriptions

All Terrain
This class has it all! From hills and valleys to open road sprints anything goes! (I,A)

Get Rolling
For those just learning to cycle, or those who want a fun, medium paced class, this is a great way to explore the benefits of group cycling. (B,I)

Endurance Ride
Maximize your limits of performance. This class is focused on consistency and is recommended for athletes in training for any long distance competition or looking to increase their levels of cardio vascular health. (I,A)

Interval Ride
Designed to get to most variety out of your class; interval class combines aspects of speed, strength and endurance training in one workout. With a constant changing routine, this class ensures a solid, well-rounded workout for all levels of athletes. (B,I,A)

Pure Power
Build a stronger heart and lower body power using a slow steady ride with moderate to heavy resistance. Aim to achieve a target heart rate of 75-85%. (I,A)

Real World Intervals
Creating a realistic outdoor training approach in an indoor group class. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is recognized as the most effective way to burn calories while improving aerobic efficiency. A heart-rate monitor is recommended to get the most out of  this class.  (I,A).

SynchoPace
Cycle to the beat and synchronize your cadence to the rhythm of the music in this highly-energetic and challenging class! This class utilizes the principals of interval training and is generally not recommended for those who prefer outdoor ride
